About BigRockFX

Some people discover the guitar. I grew up with it.

I’ started playing guitar at ten years old, and over the years it’s become much more than just a hobby. Guitar has been a constant part of my life , both as a player and through my  four decades work as a professional luthier.

During that time I’ve had the privilege of building, repairing and setting up instruments for some incredibly talented players, including some of the biggest names in the music world. I’ve always considered that a privilege rather than a badge of honour, and the experience has taught me a great deal about guitars, players and, ultimately, tone.

BigRockFX grew naturally from that experience.

I’ve always enjoyed experimenting with circuits, components and different ways of shaping guitar tone. Building pedals gives me the opportunity to combine that interest with the hands-on approach I’ve developed over many years at the workbench.

Every BigRockFX pedal is designed and built by me, in small numbers, with the same care I put into my guitars. I’m not interested in simply making hundreds of identical pedals or following whatever happens to be fashionable. I want to make great-sounding, characterful pedals that I’d be happy to plug into my own rig.

There’s a lot of history behind guitar effects, and I have a particular fondness for the old circuits, components and sounds that started it all. Where possible, I like to build on that history while adding my own ideas along the way.

BigRockFX is a small, independent guitar pedal company built around a simple idea: take years of experience with guitars, combine it with a love of electronics and old-school effects, and make something worth plugging into.

Everything is designed, built and tested by me, one pedal at a time.
