FUZZ BITE
A Fuzzrite-inspired fuzz. Reworked. Rewired. Ready to bite.
The Fuzz Bite is my own take on the classic 1960s Fuzzrite circuit — but with a few BigRockFX changes under the hood.
Rather than simply clone the original, the Fuzz Bite has been reworked around NOS 2N2222 silicon transistors, giving it a harder, more aggressive edge while retaining the raw, unruly character that makes the original circuit so addictive.
I've also added a Bias control, allowing you to move the circuit through a much wider range of tones — from tight, biting fuzz to gated, sputtering and downright nasty.
And, as with every BigRockFX Vintage pedal, it's built the old-fashioned way.
BUILT BY HAND
The circuit is built on a traditional turret board, using NOS 2N2222 transistors and carefully selected components.
The transistors and key components are individually checked and selected during the build, because with simple vintage fuzz circuits, small differences can make a surprisingly big difference to the final sound.
No mass production. No assembly line.
One Fuzz Bite at a time.
CONTROLS
VOLUME — Sets the overall output level.
FUZZ — From edgy, raspy grind through to full-on vintage fuzz mayhem.
BIAS — Adjusts the operating point of the fuzz circuit. Turn it for tighter, more focused tones or push it towards the unstable, sputtering territory where things start to get really interesting.
THE FUZZ BITE SOUND
Expect rasp, grind, sustain and attitude.
The silicon 2N2222s give the circuit plenty of bite and definition, while the Bias control lets you deliberately push it away from the predictable and into the weird.
It cleans up from the guitar surprisingly well, but dig in hard and the Fuzz Bite shows its teeth.
